In this class you will learn basic skills in:
- How to safely draw your gun from a holster in different defensive situations as well as while moving.
- Improved grip and trigger control techniques.
- Reloading techniques.
- Techniques for clearing a malfunction induced in threat scenarios. (How to quickly fix a jammed gun)
- Low light shooting techniques to learn how to employ a flashlight within rooms and hallways in a defensive manner.
- Fundamentals on firing from cover in threat situations.
- The basics of moving and communicating with a partner in threat situations.

The required items you will need for this class are:
- Semi automatic pistol or revolver. (No single action only revolvers)
- Pants or shorts with Belt loops.
- A belt.
- A holster with at least level 1 retention. OUTSIDE the waistband, strongside carry holsters ARE REQUIRED. If you currently use an IWB holster, the fundamentals that you learn with your OWB holster will translate to your everyday carry holster.
NO APPENDIX CARRY, SHOULDER HOLSTERS, CROSS DRAW, ANKLE, OR CHEST HOLSTERS ARE PERMITTED! There is a time and a place for these types of holsters, this type of class is not it.
- At least 250 rounds of ammunition. (More is always better as we may have time for additional drills if time and ammo allow for it!
- At LEAST 2 magazines if shooting a semi-automatic pistol. Having more than 2 magazines is always better and will give you more time shooting and less time reloading!
- Magazine pouches or holders will be ideal; however, you can use pants / shorts pockets to store your magazines.
- Clothing with pockets for additional cartridges if shooting a revolver, or pouch that can attach to your belt.
- Close toed and heel shoes. No flip flops or croc styled shoes.
- A handheld flashlight with push button on the back, or weapon light that attaches to the gun.
- You may bring your own eye and ear protection, but rentals will be available for those without.
